CASTRA CAECILIA Cáceres, Spain.

About 2.5 km NE of Cáceres, on the Roman road from Emerita to Asturica. It was established by Caecilius Metellus Pius in 79 B.C. It lost its military character but survived for a few centuries as a mere village. Nearby are the remains of houses and cemeteries. The vallum is 654 m long and 402 m wide.
