FLEURY
Canton of Coursan, Aude, France.
Gallo-Roman establishment S of Béziers, on a small
rocky butte near the coast at the locality called La
Fount de Rome. The platform of less than 1 ha on which
the buildings were located is shored up on the S and E
by strong supporting walls faced with regular small
blocks. Only the S wing of the establishment has as yet
been excavated; it consists of several rooms and probably
some baths. The artifacts discovered cover the entire
Gallo-Roman period. This ensemble, small but original
in form, may have had a cultic purpose.
